It is a proven fact that you can’t pour from an empty vessel. What it suggests is that a person should be happy and content with themselves first to make their surroundings and others happy.
When you have a deep sense of satisfaction, appreciation, and love towards yourself, you tend to give out the same.
The opposite holds as well. Meaning, dissatisfaction, stress, sadness, unhealthy toxic behavior towards yourself and others will only create more of it for you and others.

Take a few deep breaths – 5 min
The MOST important aspect of our very existence is our breath, the moment you are born to the moment you leave this earth, one task you continuously perform is breathing.
We often take our breaths for granted and hence create unnecessary health concerns for ourselves.
Yes, something so trivial and simple does have a magnanimous effect on our overall well-being.
Observe your breaths now and then, you would see that you tend to take in real shallow breaths.
It is funny, even I do that.
Everyone is doing it!
Like merely there breaths. Hardly making an effort to blow in your lungs to their full capacity.
That’s a grave mistake we make, our health was supposed to be serene and not cause any havoc in our mind, at least not up till we are old and about to die anytime. Right?
So, as long as we keep breathing, let’s make a conscious effort to improve it and deepen it.
It is been scientifically proven that deep breaths allow more fresh air and oxygen into your body, which can become a remedy for instant relief from stress and many common ailments like headache, laziness, low energy levels.
It is important to make it a habit. So, take few deep breaths of at least 5 minutes throughout your day. It will make a gigantic difference.
Stretch your body – 5 min
Show your body some much-needed love and care, by merely performing 5 minutes stretch in the morning, evening or whenever you feel your body might need one.
The benefits of stretching are tremendous, it quickly brings movement and flexibility in the stiffest places of your body.
Externally you might not see the results right away. But, with time you will notice your emotions, digestion and stress levels get regulated.

You can listen to it while doing your chores, workout, or just during your leisure time.
Meditate on your purpose – 15 min
Daily Meditating for at least 15 minutes can be a life-changing experience.
You will start developing a sense of calmness in your personality.
A sense of content and a happy feeling prevails in your mind through meditation.
The ability to process your thoughts, emotions, situations and decisions will have immense benefits through meditation.

Many a time, we are not able to do high-impact activities, exercises or any form of cardio or weight training.
Nonetheless, our body still needs some gentle movement for healthy functioning,
This is where, a walk in the garden, backyard, walkway, park, nature, woods, of to the nearby store can help you to unwind from your daily mundane activity.
Try doing it for 20-30 minutes.
You would feel fresh and ready for the day or the next task.
Keeping your joints, muscles, and mind engaged in an activity like walking is a long-term benefitting self-care routine.
Get creative/indulge in crafts – 30 min
If you don’t have the burning desire for inspiration and creativity somewhere in your life in any form, then, I bet that you would feel flat, down, anxious or alone.
Many people underestimate the fact that art or creative indulgence can be a healing therapy, that too for free.
The level of joy and relaxation one feels when they create anything is massive and increases your happiness quotient.
Such activities are excluded from any judgment or fear of being wrong, you simply do it for fun and do not want to impress anybody by doing it.
You do it for yourself and your happiness.
This greatly contributes to reducing the built-up anger, tension and stress levels.
Commit at least doing something artistic or creative for just 20-30 minutes a day and see the difference for yourself.

Cook new recipes or your favorite dishes – 30 min
Cooking anything of your choice especially when it is something you like to eat or rather hog on it can be an excellent self-care activity.
It is an art, it requires one to be alert, creative and be able to manage time.

While cooking, you will be engrossed, which makes you forget everything else for that time and keep your attention on cooking.

Take breaks in between heavily loaded works
This is the most important form of self-care ever.
You working back to back on your goals, attending meetings, focussing on any project, might seem like the best thing ever.
Taking a break in such situations may be restricted to catching up with people for work or doing some other work altogether.
Same with physical activities, like doing chores, exercising, lifting and moving heavy loads around the house or garage, grocery or essential shopping where you are the one lifting things most of the time. Take a break now and then.
What happens when one doesn’t take well-deserved breaks consciously?
One would feel tired, overwhelmed, stressed, burnt out, and stressed which will get extended to other areas of life as well.
Meanwhile, it becomes a requirement that you advocate for yourself and your needs.

Neglecting your needs and priority and only working will always get you an accolade for having an insane “work ethic”.

Take a break in any work prolonging more than 2 hours, ideally, medical doctors recommend a break in every half an hour.
Work could be anything, physical or mental, at home or office.
